Lightning CS was originally developed to produce coverage of meetings by legislative organizations as many legislatures of all sizes, and all around the world, need to produce video coverage of their debates, votes, and committee proceedings.
Live content creation is a newer role for a government to embrace and it comes with a different set of deliverables and needs when compared to traditional broadcasters. Making the government’s work transparent to the widest constituency is an important service to its citizens. With tax-payer funds at work to both acquire and operate the production equipment, value for money is at a premium.
Just like legislative groups, educational, religious, and corporate organizations also have unique requirements and limited budgets. One thing in common is none of their primary objectives includes video production. This means that the video production system needs to work around the people managing assembly meetings and their working practices. That does not mean they can afford to compromise on the production values of the content they need to deliver.
