Cardioid Microphone, P48

4011The Cardioid Microphone Type 4011 is one of the backbones in the Series 4000 Microphones. After its release in 1989 the Type 4011 immediately won a TEC Award for technical excellence and quickly was among the standard inventory in recording studios all over the world. The 4011 is a condenser microphone with a linear frequency response from 40 Hz to 20 kHz (±2 dB), totally flat off-axis qualities, so any leakage that occurs from off-axis sound sources is still a faithful reproduction of these sounds, though attenuated according to the true first order cardioid pick-up pattern.
Type 4011 is phantom powered (P48), transformerless and has an extremely high SPL handling capability of 158 dB SPL peak before clipping occurs. These special qualities have made the 4011 one of the most popular microphones in the recordist's toolbox and the span of applications is only limited by imagination of the user.
